It is above all in rural areas that the quality of tap water is a cause for concern: in Brittany and Hauts-de-France, in particular, intensive agriculture and the application of pesticides are the cause of exceedances of the standards on ” pesticides”, set most of the time at 0.1 micrograms per litre. Currently, the tap water of 45 municipalities in the Hauts-de-France has been “put under enhanced surveillance” by the Regional Water Agencies (ARS); Furthermore, on September 15, the ARS announced that another 60 municipalities will soon be affected by this increased surveillance.
