an electrical weather forecast soon on France Télévisions to avoid blackouts

Faced with the energy crisis, France Télévisions undertook, on Friday September 23, to make the French aware of the actions to be taken to avoid power cuts this winter, notably broadcasting Ecowatt, the electricity forecast, on its antennas.

The president of the public audiovisual group, Delphine Ernotte, and her counterpart from RTE (Electric Transport Network), manager of high and very high voltage lines, Xavier Piechaczyk, signed a “unprecedented partnership” in this sense.

France Télévisions will thus display on its antennas, when the time comes, pictograms designed as part of the Ecowatt system, which allows users to see in real time the level of electricity available in the country thanks to a signal in three colors: green ( normal ), orange (tense) and red (very tense, synonymous with unavoidable cuts if nothing is done to reduce consumption).

Specifically, viewers will be invited to modify their practices according to the pictogram on the screen, with the red one pushing them to moderate their consumption at peak times, between 8:00 and 12:00 and between 18:00 and 20:00.

If you don’t need to turn off your TV, nor do the most power hungry, “for example, you can turn on your washing machine at 10 pm instead of 7 pm”, explains Delphine Ernotte. You can also postpone the cooking of your “zucchini gratin” from 7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., Xavier Piechaczyk abounds, recalling that heating and cooking consume a lot of energy.

So many gestures that the France Télévisions audience will be aware of, whether “four French out of five each week”especially during “weather and climate” information programs or bulletins, according to Delphine Ernotte, who says she has a public service mission.

How can we all be better informed?
