Used by Evan Peters, “Dahmer: Monster – The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer” reviews the crimes of the “Milwaukee Cannibal”. In social networks, the reactions are numerous, but do we really have to fear this series?
Less than 48 hours after its release, Dahmer: Monster – The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is #1 in over 20 countries. Co-created by Ryan Murphy, the series traces the atrocities committed by one of America’s most dangerous serial killers. Between 1978 and 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer killed 17 men without authorities ever caring.
In the title role, Evan Peters surprises and makes everyone agree. The actor, familiar with the work of Ryan Murphy, plays the criminal from his adolescence until his death in prison. In social networks, the reactions are immediate. Many praise the performance of the interpreters, the accuracy of the reconstructions and the political message, at the heart of the story.

PLEASURE IN VIOLENCE?
In fact, the crimes committed by Jeffrey Dahmer are incredibly violent. In the treatment of this story, the difficulty is not to fall into a succession of unbearable and gratuitous scenes. The creators, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, manage to avoid this pitfall.
The series is, logically, very dark and causes a feeling of discomfort that accompanies the viewer from beginning to end. However, the atrocities committed by the killer are most often suggested or filmed off-camera. Details, on the other hand, are often expressed through dialogue.
Like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre of Tobe Hooper, the Dahmer series doesn’t really need gallons of blood to illustrate horror. It’s all a matter of atmosphere and tension created by the staging and the performance of the actors.
POLITICAL BIAS

In the other adaptations of the Jeffrey Dahmer story, the political dimension was not very present. The series places her at the center of its plot, especially in its second part, starting with episode 6. The Milwaukee killer mainly attacked men of ethnic minorities.
There was, behind this choice, a part of fetishism and racism, but it was above all a means to continue their murders for several years. During this case, the Milwaukee Police showed gross negligence. The black community was totally ignored. None of the alerts were taken seriously, not even the obvious signs of the criminal’s strange behaviour.
Dahmer: Monster – The Jeffrey Dahmer Story It highlights the victims and their families to make their voices heard after so many years of injustice.
