“Lisbon on the Seine”, a mini Parisian White Night on Portuguese time

A work by street artist Diogo Machado, known as “Add Fuel”.

It was going to be one of the launch parties for the France-Portugal Season, in February, but another wave of Covid had temporarily taken over the project. “Lisbon sur Seine”, an evening art walk, has been rescheduled for this Friday, September 23. With the support of the City of Paris, this course looks like a mini-Nuit blanche ahead of time (it will take place on Saturday 1Ahem October), orchestrated by Laurence de Magalhaes − new co-director of the Théâtre du Rond-Point already at the head of Paris l’été festival, with his accomplice Stéphane Ricordel − and the producer Antonio Camara Manuel, for a journey through the young Portuguese scene in four stages.

Starting at 6:00 p.m., the public will be able to discover in front of the Climate Academy, a space inaugurated a year ago in the town hall of 4me municipality (after the consolidation of 1Ahemtwome3me and 4me districts in a single sector, Center of Paris), a monumental work by Bordalo II. This street artist with a committed approach creates sculptures depicting wild animals from the plastic waste that floods city streets. These will be debris collected from Lisbon forming a 3-meter-high 3D seahorse, echoing the presence of the polluted ocean in the Portuguese capital.

Once night has fallen (from 8:30 p.m.), the oceanic influence will rise to the facade of the Town Hall with, among the projected videos, the spectacular Vague, of Salomé Lamas, in movement and real size, therefore to the scale of the building. This is a portrait of the famous Nazaré wave, the largest surfed in the world. This video will be filmed with two others: one by street artist Diogo Machado, known as “Add Fuel”, who plays in his frescoes with the classic tile motif, these traditional Portuguese tiles − will redraw the architecture of the building here in mapping −, and another by photographer Augusto Brazio, with street shots of Lisbon’s youth. The group will be accompanied by DJ Branko, who will mix until 10:00 p.m.
