In its third beta, Samsung’s One UI 5 (Android 13) mimics some of Apple’s lock screen customization options in iOS 16 while adding little elements of its own.

You know the song: the smartphone market it is highly competitive. Thus, when a company has a good idea, it tends to be imitated by others. This is all the more true for Apple, which has the special power to know how to launch fads and trends in this sector. The last example comes from Samsung One 5 UI based on android 13. In its beta 3, it comes to take some good inspirations from the lock screen ofiOS 16.
In fact, this is what TechDroider explains in a video posted on YouTube. In the latter, we can quickly get acquainted with the new One UI 5 beta. If it is difficult to be able to tax Samsung with the simple dishonorable title of the ugly copier, the South Korean giant has clearly drawn ideas seen on the iPhone lock screen by taking advantage of the latest iOS version.

Let’s say it right away, in this beta version of Samsung One UI 5, and unlike iOS 16, no element of the wallpaper goes over the clock. The similarities are more subtle. Let’s start with the time display, which looks a lot like what you might see on Apple smartphones. And in One UI 5 beta 3 as in iOS 16, a long press on this module gives access to customization options.
There are five clock skins available to you in One UI 5, compared to eight in iOS 16. You can also change the size, color, or even the appearance of the numbers. In TechDroider’s video, the similarity between the Samsung and Apple interfaces is obvious when the videographer holds the two devices side by side.

On the other hand, there are two notable elements that Samsung brings in One UI 5 that are not found in iOS 16. On the one hand, you can modify the opacity of the notifications that are displayed on the lock screen. On the other hand, the two icons at the bottom of the screen that serve as shortcuts can be changed to open the apps of your choice from the locked screen.
The rest of the video also shows a One UI 5 interface that refines the appearance of its icons to follow the Material You guidelines. Animations also look smooth.. Finally, remember that the Samsung beta program is not officially available in France.
