Smartphone manufacturers multiply innovations when the battery is discharged

An empty battery does not necessarily mean a completely unusable smartphone! Manufacturers are smart in allowing users to continue using their phone even when it is flat.

The battery is the tendon of the war for smartphones and for users. If we have observed in recent years a certain tendency to be overweight, it is because manufacturers must integrate increasingly larger batteries. But this is no longer enough and even flat, a smartphone must still be able to serve, at least a little.

Reserve mode, emergency battery…

Early September, Huawei introduced the Mate 50, its new range of high-end smartphones. Among the many novelties of these devices is a battery with a capacity of 4,700 mAh with fast charging at 66W wired and 50W wireless. But that is not all. The component has an emergency reserve that will allow the device to continue to work, even if a miracle is not expected.

In fact, Huawei announces an additional two hours of operation, enough to make some phone calls and send SMS just in case, but not all functions will be available. Also, the Mate 50 will regularly notify the user that it needs to be recharged.

The manufacturer is not the only one to offer a reduction in operation even with a discharged battery. For several generations, the iPhone has offered a reserve mode which allows you to use a payment, transport, student card or even a virtual car or house key with the flat smartphone.

On the other hand, the iPhone will not turn on, it will remain in standby mode: unlike the Mate 50, you will not be able to use the phone or messaging function. You can’t have it all, but these backup features are bound to expand with future generations.
