While Nasser Al-Khelaïfi issued a warning about “magic” money inflows without directly naming Barça, Javier Tebas responded curtly on Twitter saying that “there is no magic” in the Catalan club’s process.
Javier Tebas did not take long to respond Nasser Al-Khelaifi. This Friday, the president of PSG and the European Club Association (ECA) took advantage of a general assembly to launch a warning about “magical” contributions of money.
“We have to be careful. Dangerous levels of debt and magical equity deals are not a sustainable path. We have to think long term, not short term.” alerted PSG president. A comment addressed directly to FC Barcelona, although the Catalan club is not explicitly named by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi.
“There is no magic”
This speech did not please Javier Tebas, who took the opportunity to direct a new entry to PSG. “There is no magic. FC Barcelona sold part of its funds to cover its losses. Instead, PSG ‘opens the gas’. For sustainable football, the first thing you have to do is pay what you owe. Right?”, said the president of LaLiga. he wrote on Twitter.
After experiencing huge debts, Barca were finally able to finish the 2021-2022 season with €98 million in profit. This is due in particular to the departure of several players, salary cuts and the sale of part of FCB’s assets, including Barça Studios. Sixth that spends the most in the summer in the transfer market, the Catalan club is no longer in the red despite the arrivals of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Koundé, Franck Kessié, Andreas Christensen, Héctor Bellerin and Marcos Alonso. Barça, however, had to fight to the end to be able to register all these beautiful people in LaLiga, but there was no fiasco.
