It’s official, the Citroën Berlingo transformed into a modern 2CV Fourgonnette by the Italian coachbuilder Caselani is on the market. This vintage-looking van takes up the styling of the famous chevron utility vehicle that, as a reminder, appeared in 1951 and was only withdrawn from the market in 1987. The project was carried out in close collaboration with Citroën, which provided Caselani with the services of its designers.
More than a modern version of the 2CV Fourgonnette, this transformed Berlingo is described more as a wink. In fact, the proportions of the two vehicles are significantly different. At the front, new fiberglass parts are adapted to replace the fenders, the bumper or even the shield. The domed V-shaped hood is marked with a raised ribbed ridge and the round headlamps are set apart from the hood.
The famous grill grill is renewed

The other emblematic element of the Citroën 2CV Fourgonnette is this grille, whose upper part is “concavely cut”. The Caselani reworked Berlingo inevitably inherits it, with chrome chevrons set into its center. In profile, the rear doors are fiberglass to mimic the corrugated sheet metal of the 2CV Fourgonnette. Finally, a window appears in the rear doors, while many chrome elements are arranged in the four corners of the vehicle. The hubcaps return to the original design of those of the 2CV.
Available in gasoline, diesel and electric

Obviously, this Citroën Berlingo with the appearance of a 2CV Fourgonnette is not powered by the twin cylinder of the time. This Van version is offered with a 1.5 BlueHDi diesel or 1.2 PureTech petrol engine. The blocks are associated with an EAT8 automatic gearbox. The ë-Berlingo electric version is also compatible with the transformation, benefiting from a range of “275 kilometers per day” according to Citroën.

Aboard the Berlingo 2CV Fourgonnette, buyers benefit from a useful length of 3.09 meters when retracting the passenger seat. Driving aids are present, such as the active emergency brake, hitch stability control, blind spot monitoring or even Grip Control. Citroën also specifies that the conversion kit is available for both professionals and individuals. In this particular version, five passengers can sit on board the vehicle. But the profile inevitably receives a side window, which distorts the vintage design.
Marketing of Caselani’s Citroën Berlingo 2CV Fourgonnette starts on October 1, 2022. Production should start from January 2023.

It is a mythical utility vehicle from the second half of the 20th century. The Citroën 2CV Fourgonnette is reinterpreted by the bodybuilder Caselani, who adapts its design to the modern Citroën Berlingo. Marketed for individuals and professionals, the transformed van adopts many characteristics of the 2CV Van, such as the famous radiator grille, this V-shaped bonnet or even this corrugated iron look on its profile. As for the engine, buyers can choose between a 1.5 BlueHDi diesel block, a 1.2 PureTech petrol block or the ë-Berlingo electric version. The Citroën Berlingo 2CV Fourgonnette is marketed from October 1, 2022.
