Montpellier number 8 Zach Mercer was voted the best Top 14 player for the 2021-2022 season on Monday during Rugby Night. MHR staff Leo Coly, Antoine Dupont and Laure Sansus were also on the list of winners for the 2022 edition.
Zach Mercer has been voted the Top 14 player for the 2021-2022 season. The English number 8 (25), who arrived in Hérault in the summer of 2021, impressed with his first season in the Top 14, crowned with the title of champion with Montpellier last June, the first in the club’s history. With 26 Game Sheets (out of a possible 28) last season, Mercer was a great architect of the conquest of the Shield of Brennus.

Léo Coly best player and best hope of Pro D2
He was nominated along with Rochelais Grégory Alldritt and Toulouse Antoine Dupont, one more example of his exceptional season to get this individual award. The Toulouse and the Blues scrum-half has inherited the award for best French international. Another scrum-half (ex-Mont de Marsan spent in Montpellier in the off-season) left with his hands full as Léo Coly was awarded in the revelation category and in the category of best Pro D2 player. Laure Sansus, also number 9, was chosen as the best French international.

At the squad level, the French champions were honored, since it was Montpellier, gathered around Philippe Saint-André, who was honored on Monday night at the Olympia. In Pro D2, it was the unlucky finalist Mont-de-Marsan and his manager Patrick Milhet who were rewarded. Finally, it should be noted that it was Mathieu Raynal, who had just returned from the southern hemisphere where he had refereed (in the center and then on the sidelines) the two matches between Australia and New Zealand, who took the award among the referees.
